Mental health matters

We have released our 2014 Annual Report and the importance of mental health is one of the key themes.

Last year, mental health concerns were the number one issue amongst children and young people who contacted Kids Helpline. Contacts to our Parentline service about mental health and emotional wellbeing increased. Almost 50% of our Employment Services clients in Blacktown, New South Wales are dealing with mental health issues.

We made policy submissions to Governments about mental health and cybersafety. We launched the Starfish Mental Health Program at Deception Bay in Queensland. A groundbreaking Kids Helpline pilot program is using social media counselling to support teenage mental health.

Kids Helpline also partnered with the NRL on their State of Mind Campaign and all BoysTown services promote the importance of mental and emotional wellbeing for children, young people and families.
