Sunshine Coast luxury Prize Home drawn ‘live’ this Tuesday!
The lucky winner of yourtown’s Maroochydore waterfront Prize Home will be drawn ‘live’ from the stunning Sunshine Coast property tomorrow Tuesday, 31 January at 10am.
According to yourtown (formerly BoysTown) CEO Tracy Adams, this property has been very popular with visitors and ticket buyers and is extra special given the property was donated by a generous yourtown supporter and also gave young people employed by yourtown’s Work Enterprises paid work experience.
“The new home is an absolute oasis of luxury. Raised ceilings and high glazing to the living and entry wings provide opulence, space and style. The single level design wraps around a central northern court to create a resort style internal pool area, which also acts as a natural light source for the home. The glistening pool cools summer breezes that stretch across the generous living spaces to sensational panoramic waterfront views,” Ms Adams said.
“This exceptional home is made even more extraordinary thanks to the incredible generosity of a yourtown supporter who gave thousands of young people a chance of a brighter future when he gifted the property that enabled this Prize Home to be built.
“John was a very special person who had experienced many hardships in his younger life and wanted to empower young people doing it tough. He was concerned for those who struggled in life, especially young people.
“Many people don’t realise that yourtown buys properties which become our famous prize homes. We do not usually have property donated, but this time we have. John’s gift will mean many thousands of young people who yourtown helps each year can be supported by funds generated from the Art Union.”
Ms Adams said that because this house was built from start to finish, yourtown was also able to give young people paid work opportunities through the organisation’s Work Enterprises program.
“Two young men, Kallin and Hemi, worked on the landscaping for the prize home, learning valuable skills while being mentored by our experienced trainers. I think the results say it all. They did a fantastic job at an incredibly high professional standard,” she said.
yourtown Trainer Matt Alderton said the work team’s ability to learn was amazing.
“All some young people need is the chance to succeed. They’ve relished the opportunity from day one and worked hard with increasing confidence. I know when I was young it was hard to get into work. We give them skills and a job and that’s vital for a young person starting out,” Matt said.
According to Hemi he would have been home playing video games if it wasn’t for the project.
“yourtown’s helped out heaps. I’d been unemployed for years, doing nothing with my life. Now I’ve built gardens, planted trees and moved a lot of dirt! My plan for the future is to gain full-time employment, and try and get further in life,” Hemi said.
Ms Adams said they were expecting lots of people to attend the draw and would be live streaming it on Facebook for those not able to get there.
“Anyone that wins will not be disappointed. Their win truly will be life changing!”
