yourtown CEO Tracy Adams said it is thanks to the support of Prize Home ticket buyers that the organisation is able to be there for young people doing it tough.

“Many of our crucial services would not exist without the generosity of our Art Union and donor supporters,” Ms Adams said.

“Kids Helpline (KHL) is one such service. KHL is Australia’s only free, private and confidential 24/7 phone and online counselling service for young people aged 5 to 25 and it is 76 per cent funded by our community supporters.”

Kids Helpline’s Clinical Practice Manager Louise Davis knows first-hand how important services like Kids Helpline are to children and young people.

“Reese’s* experience is a confronting example of the issues kids are dealing with, and the important role Kids Helpline plays in helping them,” Ms Davis said.

“Reese first contacted Kids Helpline crying and very distressed. He had sheltered in his bedroom because his dad had locked himself and his mother in their bedroom. His dad was smashing windows and furniture and yelling and was ‘really hurting his Mum’.

“He said this has happened before, but today was the worst and had been going on for hours. He feared for his Mum’s life.

“We contacted the Police and were able to ensure the safety of Reese and his mum. We also told him how brave he was for reaching out for help.

“In the months that followed, KHL provided ongoing counselling and today Reese is safe, happier and hopeful that things are getting better.”

Kids Helpline receives close to 200,000 contacts from children and young people every year. Last year, for the second year running child abuse overtook suicide attempts as the number one reason counsellors actioned emergency interventions.

The $1,702,740 Maleny Prize includes $180,132 furniture and electrical, $100,000 gold bullion, and 12 months Council rates, building and contents insurance and legal fees.

First prize winners can choose either the Maleny, Queensland mountain home or a stunning Mornington Peninsula property in Victoria. Both have stunning views!
