A BoysTown art program helping disadvantaged young people in Logan gain work experience is also benefitting the community.

Plain grey lockers and pylons have been turned into beautiful works of art thanks to young clients from our Employment Service.

State Member for Waterford Michael Latter and Logan City Councillor Steve Swenson came to check on progress today.

The project is a partnership between BoysTown, Logan City Council and Queensland Rail.

Without the support of partners like government, council and community organisations these projects could not happen. And while the development of the train station is great, the development of the young people involved is even better.

Kids that work on a community project get a sense of ownership and a sense of community spirit. We painted a mural at Kingston Train Station four years ago and it still hasn’t been touched by graffiti. Arts Trainer Evangeline Goodfellow

We will continue to work with the young people who have made such a difference in Loganlea to find further training opportunities or employment.

This program is only one of the many ways we are helping job seekers to overcome the challenges of unemployment.
