BoysTown runs to end family violence

A team from BoysTown had their running shoes on early this morning to take part in the Darkness to Daylight Challenge to end violence in our homes.

MAKING A DIFFERENCE

The charity event, organised by Minter Ellison Lawyers and Australia’s CEO Challenge, involved an overnight 110km run.

Last year 280 runners and walkers carried the message that domestic violence is not okay and raised funds to help:

  • 945 women and 1,275 children fleeing from violent homes.
  • 14 workplaces implement policies to keep staff employed when affected by domestic violence.
  • 46,000 employees by violence proofing their workplace.
  • 1,000 people with training to recognise, respond and refer.

We are sure this year’s event will be even more successful. BoysTown’s team included runners who covered the last 10kms of the event and enthusiastic walkers who joined in for the final 3kms.

Every day BoysTown works with women and children who have experienced domestic violence at our family violence refuge.

Last year we helped 54 mothers and their 133 children regain a sense of control over their lives.

Our refuge is 100 per cent funded by BoysTown and you can help by donating now or by raising awareness of our need for support. That’s as easy as sharing an update on Facebook or just telling your friends and family.

And don’t forget to subscribe to keep up to date with the latest BoysTown news.
