Helping young people cope
Mental health is an issue that touches the lives of so many people right across Australia. Last year mental health was the number one concern for children and young people contacting Kids Helpline.
WE CARE. WE LISTEN.
Our dedicated counsellors are contacted every 60 seconds by a child or young person looking for someone to care and listen as they struggle with issues such as suicide, mental illness and family problems.
As the nation’s only free and confidential 24 hour counselling service specifically for the young, Kids Helpline is always there providing professional help and support when they need it most.
We are helping young people like Debra* to cope.
“I like that you don’t have to be in crisis to talk to them. My counsellor, I can talk about anything at all to him. Me and my counsellor are a good fit – we get along really well and I always feel really listened to.”
In my life I am less scared of problems because I know I will be able to talk to him about things. My mental health and coping skills have greatly increased. Debra
Tomorrow is World Mental Health Day and we urge everyone to get the message out to young people that mental health issues can happen to anyone and there are places to turn for help.
Help raise awareness because mental health is worth talking about.
If young people want to talk to someone they can call Kids Helpline on 1800 55 1800, 24 hours a day, 7 days a week or use email or web counselling services.
