More young people in work
A major part of our commitment to young people is helping them to find jobs.
GETTING WORK READY
The youth unemployment rate is currently over 12% making it hard for many young people to find work, let alone for those whose life hasn’t always been easy.
That’s why our jobactive and return to work programs are so important.
In partnership with MAX Employment, our jobactive consultants use their expert knowledge to help young people get a job that’s right for them. By listening to young people, understanding their goals and overcoming challenges, we're getting results.
A major barrier to finding a job is having work experience. Our employment enterprises provide young people with paid, real world opportunities where they learn what is expected of them in the workplace. It's a supportive environment where they can develop the skills and self-confidence for a brighter future. This proven approach is made possible by the support of the public through donations and tickets in our prize home draws.
We’re part of the solution for many young people, no matter where they're from. Our Vocational Training and Employment Centre (VTEC), in partnership with the Federal Government and GenerationOne, provides tailored pre-employment training, personal mentoring and job placement for Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander peoples.
We've helped more than 12,000 people in our employment and work transition programs this year. In 2016, we’ll be doing more than ever.
At BoysTown, we’re tackling the issues that impact the lives of young people right across the country. Helping them find jobs, learn skills, become great parents and importantly, live safe and happy lives.
