CHANGING LIVES

Sharna is currently employed as a school-based trainee at our Capalaba office and is completing a Certificate III in Business Administration. This means she works one day a week while still attending school.

Sharna also cares for her mum who suffers from a serious medical condition but she continues to perform to the best of her abilities at school and work.

Employment Services Manager Tania Nixon says Sharna has come a long way since commencing her traineeship, with her confidence and self-esteem continuing to improve every day.

“I am very proud of Sharna from where she has started to where she is now and I believe she is a great role model for all Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander young people and is a great asset to BoysTown,” said Tania.

"We will stand by Sharna as she continues to change her life and achieve her dreams."

Sharna now has a goal of working with other Indigenous young people involved with the Youth Justice system and supporting them the way BoysTown has supported her.

Last year we helped more than 9,000 young people pursue their training, education and employment goals.
