Tourism the ticket for Indigenous employment

BoysTown is working with the Queensland Tourism Industry Council (QTIC) to provide jobs for Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander young people.

TRAINING. MENTORING. EMPLOYMENT.

This new partnership aims to secure jobs for long-term unemployed Indigenous young people in South East Queensland.

QTIC is the peak industry body for tourism and we will work with them to provide tailored pre-employment training, personal mentoring and job placement for job seekers.

Tourism in Queensland contributes $21 billion to the economy and employs more than 235,000 people. Our goal is to increase the number of Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander people in that workforce.

BoysTown provides a range of services and programs with a wrap-around care approach that includes developing vocational, communication and other life skills, along with personal support.

This program is part of the VTEC initiative funded by the Australian Government and is based on the GenerationOne employment model.
