Ipswich Mayor launches new employment project

Ipswich Mayor Paul Pisasale launched BoysTown’s new Six Mile Creek revegetation employment project in Redbank Plains today.

 

 

TRAINING. SUPPORT. EMPLOYMENT.

The revegetation project, in conjunction with Lend Lease, provides jobs for seven young people aged from 18 to 32.

Like our other social enterprises, the project will focus on employability and life skills development and support to find ongoing work when the project is completed.

All the young people involved were previously unemployed, from school leavers with little work experience through to a stay at home dad looking to return to the workforce.

 

 

Ipswich City Council and BoysTown have built a strong partnership over many years and a successful association working together on innovative enterprises like graffiti removal and park maintenance for the benefit of local residents. Providing employment for local young people as well as looking after the environment creates a sustainable future for our community. Ipswich Mayor Paul Pisasale

BoysTown is one of the pioneers of work-based social enterprises in Australia, having provided over 2,200 young people with paid work experience and training since 1999.
