Kids Helpline talks childhood stress

Childhood stress has increased in the past few decades, with around 40 per cent of kids reporting that they worry too much.

Jasmina Rowe, Kids Helpline Clinical Practice Supervisor, has looked at the most common stressors faced by children and coping strategies for KidsMatter.

Stress is considered to be an unavoidable part of life. A certain amount of stress is normal as it helps children develop the skills they need to cope with new situations and build resilience.

Childhood stress can present with a large number of physical and emotional signs and symptoms, and usually occurs when the child is experiencing a situation that requires changing and adapting. Jasmina Rowe.

The good news is that the damaging effects of stress can be managed with the right support.
