“At 17, I went to prison for the first time. It’s a scary place for a young kid. Over the next few years, I was in and out of prison six times, after continuing to steal to support my drug habit.”
“After my fifth time in jail, I was put in touch with BoysTown. They really tried to help me turn my life around. But I wasn’t ready. I re-offended and went back to prison. After I got out, I came back to BoysTown. It was tough going. I wasn’t the best candidate but BoysTown always believed in me, even when I didn’t believe in myself.”
“After a while, I realised the benefits of what BoysTown was showing me. They taught me how to behave at work. Slowly, I began to see myself differently and liked what I saw. It became easier for me to say no to drugs. It was time to become the person I always wanted to be.”
“These days, life is good. Recently, I was promoted to State Manager for an international company. I am married to a wonderful lady and have a young son. We live in our own home. If you had told me 15 years ago where I’d be today in my life, I never would have believed you.”
I will always be grateful to BoysTown for helping me turn my life around. They never gave up on me, which made all the difference. Who knows where I would be today without their help. Thank you BoysTown, what you do every day really makes a difference. Adam.
