Meeting of minds
We're supporting young people and advocating for their rights...
TACKLING ISSUES TOGETHER
Last Friday, 4 March 2016, Megan Mitchell (National Children's Commissioner at the Australian Human Rights Commission) took time out from a visit to Brisbane to meet with our CEO, Tracy Adams and John Dalgleish, Head of Strategy and Research.
We have a strong relationship with the Commissioner and have worked closely with her over the last couple of years. This was a great opportunity for us to show her our operation and talk about our mutual future advocacy platforms.
In both 2014 and 2015, our data proved instrumental in shaping the findings and recommendations for the Children’s Rights Reports which were submitted to the Australian Government. The first report focussed on self-harm and suicide among children and young people. The second report included an examination into how children are affected by family and domestic violence.
The work of the Kids Helpline and the research and analysis it undertakes is essential to both supporting children in distress, and to increasing our knowledge of what is happening for children and how we can encourage help seeking. We look forward to continuing to work closely with Megan Mitchell in advocating for the rights of young people. Every young person has the right to a brighter future.
