Our Counsellors Listen Without Judgement

We understand it can be daunting speaking to a counsellor for the first time!

We’re here to listen and not judge. Parentline is a confidential service and you can choose what you want to talk to us about. You can provide your name if you feel comfortable, but you don’t have to.

You can contact Parentline three ways: via phone , WebChat or email.

When you contact us our counsellors will:

  • Listen carefully to your concerns or problems
  • Ask questions to get a better understanding of what’s happening for you
  • Work with you to provide support and guidance
  • Help you to sort out those issues that are most important to you
  • Help you develop strategies for managing those issues

In addition to counselling, Parentline also offers Triple P parenting program support over the phone. There’s no extra cost involved. Just ask for a Triple P trained counsellor when you call us and we will organise a Triple P counsellor to call you back at a time that’s convenient for you.

You Can Talk About Anything

Counselling is about understanding the situation or issue from your point of view, helping you to think about problems in new ways, and helping you come up with strategies and solutions that may improve the situation.

Often problems are complex and there are many things the counsellor needs to understand about your particular situation before helping you find solutions. You may just need somebody to listen who is outside the situation and won’t judge you or your parenting. We can be there for you and support you during difficult times, even when things look like they may never get better.
