Parenting is one of life’s great challenges. Asking for help could make all the difference.

START THE CONVERSATION

BoysTown has joined The Queensland Family and Child Commission to encourage parents to get talking.

Talking Families, a six-week TV and social media campaign, was launched yesterday to encourage families to have honest conversations about the pressures they face and to seek and accept help.

Last year mental health and wellbeing issues faced by parents and carers increased significantly among those contacting our Parentline service.

Parents and carers can be stressed about work, money, relationship issues and the challenging behaviour of their child. It is crucial they realise they are not alone and that there are resources available, like Parentline. Tracy Adams, BoysTown CEO

The campaign also sends a message to the wider community about the importance of initiating a conversation and offering meaningful help to parents.

For more information visit the Talking Families website or Facebook page.

Parentline’s telephone and email service operates between 8am-10pm, seven days a week. Web counselling is available from 11am-2pm, Tuesday and Thursday. For counselling support visit Parentline or call 1300 30 1300.

Parentline receives funding from the Queensland Government and Northern Territory Government.
