QLD wins BoysTown State of Origin

Queensland emerged victorious at the BoysTown State of Origin Touch Football Challenge held at the Brisbane Broncos Training Ground in Red Hill today.

STATE VS STATE. MATE VS MATE.

Young people from our services in New South Wales and Queensland have been battling for footy supremacy for six years and Queensland took the annual trophy home for the third time.

It was clear that Queensland were going to be too good for New South Wales today. They won the first game of the three match series 7-2 and wrapped up the title in the second game by winning 7-5.

The day didn’t start well for New South Wales either. They missed their flight out of Sydney and all 14 players and staff had to be rebooked on a later flight.

But they made it eventually and it was a very exciting contest between the States. The games were of a high standard of skill and played with great sportsmanship.

The BoysTown State of Origin challenge is held every year during Origin time to celebrate the important role sport plays in promoting not only healthy bodies but healthy minds.

Healthy minds are also the focus of the NRL. Their ‘What’s Your State of Mind’ campaign, supported by Kids Helpline, was launched last year to breakdown stereotypes and stigmas in relation to mental health. #NRLStateofmind
