Sharing our mission
More than 180 young people from across Australia, New Zealand, Papua New Guinea and America visited BoysTown yesterday to learn about the work we do with young people.
IMPROVING LIVES
It was part of the Lasallian Youth Gathering, a unique event held every two years for young people at De La Salle schools and universities to explore the Lasallian mission and see it in action.
After a morning spent hearing from some of our staff about the work they do and the young people they support, the group headed out to Griffith University for some fun and games.
A circuit of activities designed to challenge their intellectual and physical skills and their ability to work as a team also allowed them to meet BoysTown clients.
The aim was to help young people to feel good about themselves, get along with other people and make new friends.
This celebration of cooperation was particularly appropriate during NAIDOC Week.
Celebrations are being held across Australia to celebrate the history, culture and achievements of Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander peoples.
BoysTown is committed to engaging, strengthening and building equal partnerships with Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander families, their extended families and communities and we are proud to have a number of programs specifically dedicated to assisting Indigenous young people and families.
