Cause related marketing

One in four customers say they have switched from their usual product or service to one that supports a cause they care about, and one in two intend to switch brands. 

Cause-related marketing helps you achieve your business goals while demonstrating your values and support of the community. The most common cause related marketing campaigns are: 

  • Sales campaigns: You donate a percentage or set amount from the sale of specific products or services. 
  • Point of sale donations: Your customers add a donation on top of their purchase. 
  • Round-up campaigns: Your customers donate by rounding up their transactions. 
  • Matched giving: Your business pledges to match donations made by your customers, people, or yourtown’s donors.  

Telstra – Free Calls to Santa 

The stockings were hung, and the lights were twinkling. In 2024 and 2025, we teamed up with Telstra to spread festive cheer to families across Australia. 

Telstra’s Free Calls to Santa has become a much-loved holiday tradition. Kids of all ages could call Santa from any of Telstra’s 14,000+ payphones by dialling #HO HO HO (#46 46 46). For every call made during one weekend in December, Telstra donates one dollar to Kids Helpline. 

Children and young people love chatting with Santa, knowing they are also helping other kids doing it tough. Thanks to the tens of thousands of children who called Santa, the Telstra Foundation has donated $50,000 to Kids Helpline each year. 

Kellogg’s  

We launched a national campaign with Kellogg’s in the early 2000’s to encourage more children and young people to seek help. Together, we reached 40% of Australian households, with Kids Helpline featuring on 7 million cereal boxes and in TV commercials – driving significant sales growth and brand loyalty for Kellogg’s. Thanks to the generosity of customers at the checkout, Kids Helpline received over $3.2 million in funding, enabling us to answer tens of thousands more life-saving calls from children and young people. 

Our partnership with Kellogg’s went on to receive national and international awards for best practice in corporate social responsibility.
