Domestic violence is a crime that knows no geographical, socio-economic, age, cultural or religious boundaries.

In 2004, we established our family violence refuge, providing crisis accommodation for women and children escaping this indiscriminate crime.

Last year, we supported 54 mothers and their 133 children and we are making a real difference to these families.

The refuge provides a place of safety, physically and emotionally, so that women can regain a sense of control and set a new path for themselves with their children.

One mum of three girls said:

For the past couple of years, I have gone to and from refuges and ended up back in the arms of a man who has held a lot of power over me. Being here has been a life changing experience for me. I have discovered my true strengths, true needs and true happiness.

The family violence refuge is completely funded by BoysTown supporters. It is only through their compassion of that we are able to provide this safe haven for families to rebuild their lives.
